The scissors are hand-forged in carbon steel in the traditional Japanese way in Niigata, Japan. It provides clean cuts that heal more efficiently because the scissors do not fray the surface, inviting fungal or viral attacks.

The scissors are suitable for small trees, branches, and new shoots. It is in a slightly smaller size than other Okubo scissors, making it suitable for those with smaller hands. It can also be used for Ikebana, herb gardens, and other plant-related applications.
It has excellent sharpness, but like all good tools, it needs maintenance. Resin needs to be wiped or sometimes washed away. Afterward, it should be dried thoroughly and preferably lubricated with, for example, camellia oil for rust protection and lubrication.
