Hand-forged scissors for bonsai and ikebana flower arrangements. This type of scissors is often referred to as bonsai scissors. With sturdy handles and relatively thick blades, these scissors are designed for precision. The scissors can cut branches up to approximately 12 mm thick, providing a neat, easily healed cut. The edge is very sharp and hardened to maintain sharpness for a long time.
Characteristic of these scissors is their overlapping tips to ensure they cut all the way to the tip.
The scissors are crafted by the Japanese company Wazakura, located in the Niigata Prefecture on the island of Honshu, Japan. The scissors are hand-forged in carbon steel using traditional Japanese techniques. They have excellent sharpness but, like all good tools, they require maintenance. Sap needs to be wiped off or sometimes washed off. Afterwards, they should be thoroughly dried and preferably lubricated with, for example, camellia oil to protect against rust and lubricate the scissors.
