D\u00e4remot \u00e4r det oftast inte relevant att odla bonsai i ren akadama. En del av de odlare som vill efterlikna japanska bonsai-metoder kan f\u00f6rs\u00f6ka att odla i ren akadama, men i Sverige \u00e4r det oftast inte beh\u00f6vligt. Ren akadama dr\u00e4nerar j\u00e4ttebra. Kanske lite v\u00e4l bra f\u00f6r svenska f\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden. Humus-\u00e4mnen inneh\u00e5ller ofta organiska syror, humussyror, vilket g\u00f6r denna jord svagt sur. Det l\u00e5ga PH-v\u00e4rdet bidrar till att fylla fosfatjonerna med v\u00e4te vilket g\u00f6r fosfat-gruppen neutral och vatten-ol\u00f6slig och d\u00e4rmed sv\u00e5rtillg\u00e4nglig f\u00f6r v\u00e4xtens r\u00f6tter.<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\nAkadama \u00e5 andra sidan \u00e4r en sammans\u00e4ttning av metalloxider som kemiskt \u00e4r neutrala till sin natur. Dominerar g\u00f6r SiO<sub>2<\/sub> (kvarts, en s.k. sur bergart) och Al<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>3<\/sub> (karborundum) men akadama inneh\u00e5ller ocks\u00e5 Fe<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>3 <\/sub> (hematit, vilket bidrar till den r\u00f6da f\u00e4rgen) MgO (magnesiumoxid, l\u00e4tt basisk), CaO (kalciumoxid, l\u00e4tt basisk) samt MnO (manganoxid, l\u00e4tt basisk). Tillsammans ger detta ett material med ett naturligt pH p\u00e5 6,9 vilket \u00e4r i det n\u00e4rmaste kemiskt neutralt.<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\nEn annan kemiskt viktig faktor vad det g\u00e4ller akadama \u00e4r att oxiderna (kovalenta binningar mellan metall- och syreatomer) inneh\u00e5ller positivt laddade metallatomer och syreatomer som \u00e4r negativt laddade. Dessa pol\u00e4ra bindningar g\u00f6r att akadaman kan adsorbera eller tillf\u00e4lligt binda n\u00e4rings\u00e4mnen vid bevattning (till skillnad fr\u00e5n absorbera eller binda permanent).<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\nN\u00e4ringen vi tills\u00e4tter (snabb eller l\u00e5ngsam) best\u00e5r av positiva joner (kalium, magnesium, kalcium, j\u00e4rn, ammonium-joner m.m.) samt negativa joner (fr\u00e4mst nitrat, men ocks\u00e5 sulfat, m.fl.). Akadaman, likt flera andra vulkaniska bergarter \u00e4r v\u00e4ldigt por\u00f6s. Den har vid bildandet expanderat kraftigt p\u00e5 grund av \u00f6verskott av l\u00f6st vatten\u00e5nga och koldioxid som snabbt frisl\u00e4ppts till luften. Den bildar d\u00e4rf\u00f6r ett lerliknande mineral (ej lera) med v\u00e4ldigt por\u00f6s struktur.<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\nDet m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r partiklarna att ta in stor volym vatten utan att strukturellt f\u00f6r\u00e4ndras. I vanlig sand kommer en viss m\u00e4ngd vatten att komma in lemman kornen. I lera binds stor m\u00e4ngd vatten fast p\u00e5 ett s\u00e4tt som totalt \u00e4ndrar strukturen p\u00e5 leran. Vid br\u00e4nd lera minskar upptagbarheten av vatten och blir betydligt s\u00e4mre. (Det \u00e4r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r det g\u00e5r att ha lerk\u00e4rl att odla i.) Akadaman d\u00e4remot g\u00f6r samma som sanden, men inte bara p\u00e5 ytan av kornet utan rakt igenom.<\/p>\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7IeFhS0KO2g\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\r\n<p>Akadamans f\u00f6rm\u00e5ga att suga upp vatten beror p\u00e5 tv\u00e5 saker. 1. Den har stor yta eftersom den \u00e4ven har \u201dyta\u201d p\u00e5 insidan kornen. 2. Den best\u00e5r av samma \u00e4mnen som sanden (mest kiseldioxid) d\u00e4r de pol\u00e4ra vattenmolekylerna trivs tillsammans med de pol\u00e4ra delarna av akadama-kornen.
